Here are some
suggestions on how to use our Web Based Email. The great thing about
web based email is that it is available to you from any computer that
has a connection to the internet. We don't recommend you use this as
your main email program because we feel that there are features in
other email programs that can enhance your email experience.
One of the best uses of web based email is deleting large emails that
don't want to come over to your computer. Click
here for directions.
To get to web based email either click on the link above or type in
webmail.thegateway.net in your browser.
Once at the logon screen enter the first part of your email address
(i.e. john_doe@thegateway.net
would enter john_doe) into the Username box. DO NOT put @thegateway.net
in the username. Then type in your password and click on the log in
button.
You will then get a list of your emails. From here you can click on
various things.
Clicking on anything under the From category
will bring up a screen to send a message to the person that sent you
that message.
Clicking on anything under the Subject category
will bring up the message and allow you to read it, delete it, forward
it, or reply to it. If there are any attachments in the message you
will be able to save those and open them from your computer.
You can also create a contact list and folders in which to store your
messages.
To delete a message from the inbox follow the procedures below.
Using Web Based Email to Delete
Large Emails
When someone sends a large email to you it can mess up your email
program on your computer. Using the web based email for deleting large
emails that you don't want coming to your computer saves time and
hassle when you have a large email.
To delete email from your email account do the
following:
1) Login to web based email - see above on how to do this
2) Put a check in the box next to the email to be deleted - The size
of the file is shown over on the right so you can determine which is
the big one.
3) Click on Delete
4) A trashcan will now show next to the message that you have marked
for deletion.
5) Click on Empty Trash. The message will then be permanently
deleted
6) Click on Logout and you will be taken back to the Login screen
You should then use your regular email program to pick up your
remaining email. Any questions on these procedures please call us. |
